Arts Centre – Geoffrey Rush

Art, Book

Arts Centre Melbourne is both a defining Melbourne landmark and Australia’s largest and busiest performing arts centre staging more than 4,000 performances and events to more than 2.7 million people a year.

The exhibition The Extraordinary Shapes of Geoffrey Rush began to take shape in 2011, when the Arts Centre approached Rush to borrow some items for a display. Taking in the impressive plethora of roles played, the Performing Arts Collection dedicated the exhibition to the many characters explored by Rush and his ability to seamlessly shift into character using posture, costume and movement.

We thoroughly enjoyed creating this extensive exhibition catalogue showcasing the many characters of Geoffrey Rush and the wide range of costuming paraphernalia to go along with it. The use of mixed typography on the cover allowed us to allude to the many facets of what lay within, while keeping the stock and colour scheme monochromatic to accentuate the photography and its eclectic content.
